Des Moines, Ia.--Betty Jane Cornwell, 4-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Cornwell, suffered fatal injuries when she was struck by a car while crossing the highway in front of her farm home five miles north of here. The child, returning from a birthday party, jerked away from older companions and dashed into the path of a car driven by Everett Hawn, 26, of Scranton, Ia. She died of a fractured skull on the way to a hospital.
