World War II veteran.

William "Bill" Hoover Mack, 87, had many lifelong passions including a love of history, nature, bee keeping, reading, baking bread, and spending time at his Northern Michigan family cottage in Wequetonsing. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Bill died on July 16, 2014 at Sunrise Senior Living Residence in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan due to complications related to Parkinson's disease.

Bill was born on January 17, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio as part of a triplet set with his brother, Harry, and Sister, Evangeline, to James and Evangeline Mack. He graduated from John Carroll University receiving a degree in History and going on to work for 30 years at Sunoco Corporation after which, he began a second career as a commercial realtor. He had an active retirement that aligned with his interests including being a dedicated member of his parish, St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church, and a tireless volunteer at the Bloomfield Birmingham Library.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion, who was always at his side and became his champion until his last hour. With his first wife, Gail Mally-Mack, Bill had five children. Bill was Papa, a devoted Grandfather of 13. Additionally, he was a fun loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim and Harry; sister Evangeline; first wife, Gail and Grandson, Charlie.

Bill had a joyful, loving, and happy spirit. He was always kind, caring to all he encountered, and never complained even during his physical struggles in his final years.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. with Scripture Service at 7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, Troy, Michigan.

The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Visitation at church begins at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon immediately will follow the celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to: Angels' Place Bell Home, 29299 Franklin Rd., Ste 2, Southfield, MI 48034.
