Flora Belle Hewitt
Flora Belle Hewitt, 91, of Lily Street, Morgantown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday morning, March 26, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Pamela, where she had lived for the past 14 years.
Flora Belle was born in Maidsville on Aug. 4, 1917, a daughter of the late Stephen McCrobie and the late Mary Elizabeth Jeffers McCrobie.
Flora was a generous and loving mother of 13 children, 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Flora was the foundation of her family and will be significantly missed. She was her family’s angel, and her ultimate joy was watching her family grow.
She loved to read, spend time with her two cats, watch wrestling with her grandson Paul, shop with her granddaughter Jennifer, and WVU Mountaineer football. She enjoyed listening to her favorite Christian music and television programs.
Flora will always be on her front porch swing, where she’ll be watching over her family.
She is survived by 12 daughters: Joanne Brown and her husband, Ronald, Barbara Hartbarger and her husband, Sonny, Mary Kay (Paul) Cline, Carolyn (Rev. Richard) Ryan, Ruth Hewitt, Betty Hewitt (Richard Fuller), Evelyn (Larry) Bales, Charlotte Hewitt (Gary Orrahood), Sharon (Richard) Jackson, Patty Shine, Pamela (Jerome) Sypert, and Cheryl Ann Hewitt (Gary James); and a sister, Juanita Pennington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edgar Hewitt; her son, Paul Jacob Hewitt; three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday and at the First Church of the Nazarene, Garrison Street, Morgantown, from 1 p.m. Sunday, March 29, until the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastors Richard Ryan and Lynn Keener officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery, Point Marion Road, Morgantown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Hewitt’s memory may be made to: Morgantown Meals on Wheels, 3373 University Ave., Morgantown, WV 26505.
