Lewis Bailey Is Taken By Death

Lewis Marshall Bailey, 75, of Maynor, died at the Pine Lodge Nursing Home at 4:12 p.m. Monday after a long illness. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers of America.

He was born March 20, 1889, at Glen Fork, a son of the late W. B. and Sarah Brooks Bailey.

Survivors include his widow, Esta Buckland Bailey; two sons, Ernest and Dewey, both of Chicago, six daughters, Mrs. Estele (Lena) Layton, Mrs. Ray (Jessie) Wiley, Mrs. Ruben (Thelma) Nieto, Mrs. Noah (Leona) Caldwell, Mrs. Edgar (Eva) Basham, all of Chicago, and Mrs. Jimmy (Carol) James of Sand Branch; one brother Virgil of Maple Meadow; 30 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The body is at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, pending completion of arrangements.

Lewis Bailey's Rites Thursday

Funeral services for Lewis Marshall Bailey, 75, of Maynor, will be conducted at 2 p. m. Thursday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel by the Rev. Robert Perry and the Rev Doff Harvey. Bailey died Monday in a local nursing home after a long illness. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

The body will remain at the Rose and Qusenberry Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2 p. m. today.

Pallbearers will be Arnold, Clifton and Carmen Bailey, Clark Daniel, Keith McGraw, and Buck Allen.
