After a long illness, Mrs. Mary Hawkins, widow of Timothy Hawkins, died at her home on Church street, in this village on Thursday [20 Dec]. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Ireland eighty-four years ago. She came to this country about sixty years ago, and had resided in this village most of this time. Her husband was the first station agent for the New York Central Railroad in this village. The deceased is survived by one son, Michael, and four daughters, the Misses Anna and Agnes Hawkins, of this village, Mrs. Ellen Seery, of Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary J. Eager, of Syracuse. The funeral services were held at Sr. Felix Church on Saturday morning [22 Dec], and the internment was mad in St. Agnes cemetery.
