Charles A. “Chas” Allen, 72, of Milford died at 2:04 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2014 at home.

He was born December 29, 1941 in Milford, the son of Levi E. and Marie Long Allen.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Milford; his son, Roderick Allen of Cape Coral, FL; two grandchildren, Stephen of Cape Coral, FL and Nicole Allen of Cape Coral, FL; four great-grandchildren; his brother, Elmer and two sisters, Nancy Allen and Opal Long all of Milford; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two stepdaughters, Dawn (Terry) Kennedy of Milford and Misty (Sherman) Taulbee of Clinton, IL and three step-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joan (Richard) Gossett; and his beloved wife of twenty-two years, Bonnie Suver Allen.

Charles was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf. His true love was fast pitch softball. He was inducted into the Eastern Illinois Fast Pitch Softball League’s Hall of Fame in 2009. It was a very humbling experience for him.

He was a meat cutter and owned two businesses, B & C Meat Market and B & C Drive In, both located in Milford.

Private graveside services for Mr. Allen will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.
