A Baptist minister, Mr. Vance was a member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for many years. He served as custodian at Ballard Memorial High School from 1952 to 1979.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Bell Vance; two sons, James and Anthony Vance; three daughters, Lois Grace, Joyce Goodwin and Carolyn Simpson; one brother, Ray Morris; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. His parents were Jim and Ella Vance.
