Oliver Perry Lightsey, husband of Mrs. Annie Holmes Harrison Lightsey, died March 7, 1987. Born in Hampton County, he was a son of the late Perry Wesley and Emma Priester Lightsey. He was the former owner and operator of Lightsey Lumber Co. and was a South Carolina senator from Hampton County. He attended Clemson College and served in the Army during World War I. He was commissioned a captain in the infantry, was sent to Harvard University for training in French warfare and was also stationed at Camp Jackson in Columbia. He was a Mason, a charter member of Brunson Lions Club and member of Brunson United Methodist Church. He was also a Hampton County school trustee and former schoolteacher. Surviving in addition to his wife; are two sisters, Mrs. Wilton Hall of Anderson and Mrs. Elliott Tucker of Greenwood; nieces and nephews. Services were at 11 am today at Brunson United Methodist Church. Burial was in Brunson Cemetery. Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home was in charge.
