Miles E. Hoag, 92, a resident of Heritage Village South died Wednesday. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
Mr. Hoag was born Jan. 9, 1891, at Lebanon, Kan., the son of Elbert (Albert?) and Josephine Allen Hoag. He grew up and received his education there and farmed with his father and later became a barber. He married Delilah Watson on April 3, 1912, at Smith Center, Kan. They lived in the Lebanon, Kan., area until 1927 when they moved to Wood River. In 1932 they came to Grand Island. He ran a barber shop at 106 E. Fourth for more than 50 years. Mrs. Hoag died Aug. 18, 1982. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had been a member of Lodge No. 211, A.F. & A.M., of Wood River for more than 50 years.
Survivors include a son, Duane of Grand Island; a daughter, Mrs. Leveda Youngson of Minden, three grandsons, Michael of Norfolk, James of Grand Island and Steve of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Bea McCall of Stockton, Kan., and Mrs. Alma Baldwin of Cottonwood Falls, Kan. He was preceded in death by a sister.
