Mr. O.B. Ethridge, age 91, a resident of Houston County for the past 36 years, passed away, Sunday, April 10, 2016 in a Tyler Hospice. He retired as Director of the Houston County Senior Citizens’ Center and was well known in this community. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service in Texarkana and Dallas. Previously, he taught grammar school in Lake Jackson and at Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, and was employed as a case worker for the State of Texas Child Welfare Department.

He loved to play dominoes every afternoon at the Senior Center and 42 in the evenings at Enchanted Pines Assisted Living Center, where he resided since 2012. He was a people person who thrived on conversation and lived to dance every other Thursday evening at the Anderson County Senior Citizens’ Center. When O.B. wasn’t visiting friends or dancing in the evenings, he could be found walking. He enjoyed some success as a writer, and his writings reflected his love for God, people, his country, animals and the beauty of nature.

He is survived by one daughter, Wendy Suzanne Pizzo and husband, Andrew; 13 beloved nieces and 3 nephews.

Memorial Services for O.B. Ethridge will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Enchanted Pines Retirement Community.
