James P. Archibald, 88, of Hyannis, MA died at Cape Cod Hospital on September 21, 2014. He was the husband of Patricia (O’Connor) Archibald to whom he was married 66 years.
Mr. Archibald was born in Valhalla, NY. He was a graduate of White Plains High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Naval Air Corps in June 1943 and Honorably Discharged in June 1946. He attended Franklin and Marshall College in the Naval College Training Program. He received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Villanova University and then a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. Mr. Archibald was Vice President of Natgun Corporation until he retired in 1993. Prior to joining Natgun he served 14 years with the Portland Cement Association. He was Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Fellow of the American Concrete Institute. His love was taking care of his home and his family, church, early morning jogs, swimming, Dallas sports teams and walking the family dog.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Karin and Richard Potter of Medway, MA; Michael Archibald and Lisbeth Svensson of West Yarmouth, MA; James and Claire Archibald of Yorba Linda, CA; Dennis and Laurel Archibald of Wellesley, MA; Patrick Archibald of Hyannis, MA and Eileen Archibald-Perkins and Mark Perkins of Flint, MI; his grandchildren Rick and Heather, Kristen and Timothy, Conor and Erin and his great grandson JJ.
Visiting hours will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd. (Route 28), Marstons Mills, MA, 02648. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26th at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville, followed by burial at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 150 Cambridge Park Dr., Suite 202, Cambridge, MA 02140.
