Dean R. Johnson, 74, Beach, ND and formerly of Mekinock, ND died Monday, September 22, 2014 in Sanford Health Center of Fargo, ND.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, September 29, 2014 in Ness Lutheran Church near Mekinock, ND.
Visitation will be for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in the Ness Lutheran Cemetery.

Dean was born June 7, 1940 in Grafton, ND the son of Harry and Edna (Burtness) Johnson. He was raised and educated between Emerado and Mekinock, ND. He graduated from high school at Emerado. Dean established the Silver Fleece Ranch then later farmed in Rural Grand Forks. In 1986, he moved to Beach, ND to return to ranching.

Dean enjoyed anything agriculture, rodeos, cowboy poetry, leatherwork and caring for livestock.

Survivors include his children, Tom (Pam) Johnson, Dothan, AL, Dan (Emily) Johnson, Nicolette, MN, Kenneth (Kelly) Johnson, Staples, MN, Kim (Ken) Cremers, Grand Forks; 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; sister, Darlyne (Lyle) Brudvig, Dickinson, ND; brother, Don Johnson, Coffeeville, AL, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Dean is also survived by a special friend, Gerty Shaffer, Beach ND.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and by his granddaughter, Hannah Johnson.
