Jay Darl Sanner, 76, of Somerset, passed on September 22, 2014 at Somerset Hospital. Born April 22, 1938 in Upper Turkeyfoot Twp, he is a son of the late Charles and Zelda (Younkin) Sanner. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Everett, Dean, and Terry Sanner. Mr. Sanner is survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia (Henry) Sanner; sons Michael Sanner and wife Denise of Somerset and Charles Sanner and wife Debbie of New Centerville; grandchildren Jerica Hay and husband James of Rockwood, Joshua Sanner of Kimmelton, and Charles Sanner of New Centerville; great-grandchildren Kallie, Michael, and Makayla Hay; sisters Faye Compton and husband Leonard of Markleton, Evelyn Wirsing of Harnedsville, and Alice Carpenter and husband Ronald of Xenia, OH; and brother Peter Sanner and wife Nancy of Scullton. Mr. Sanner was a retired auto mechanic and construction worker who was involved in the construction of the Kinzua Dam and the McNally Bridge on Route 219. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Somerset and loved to garden, hunt, fish, and work. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, SOMERSET where a vigil service will be held at 1:45 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church at 9:30 AM Friday, father Daniel O’Neill celebrant. Interment at Kingwood Cemetery.
