Funeral services for Paul A. Nickey, 88, of Newberg, who died Oct. 23, at Newberg Hospital, were Wednesday in Attrell’s Newbeg Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Valley View Memorial Park, Newberg.
Paul Nickey was born the son of Amos J. and Mary Heckman Nickey on December 31, 1883in Decatur, Illinois. He lived in Illinois until he was 12 years old then moved to Kearney, Neb., where he finished high school. He attended Mt. Morris College and studied agriculture at the University of Nebraska. He was a minister in the Church of The Brethern. On August 19, 1908 he was married to Nora Musselman in Kearney, Neb., and they lived and farmed in Nebraska at Hancock for 15 years and then Monticello for 10 years. In 1945 they came to Newberg, Oregon and purchased an acreage near town. Three years ago they moved to their present address. Mr. Nickey taught the adult Sunday School Class at the Newberg First United Methodist for 15 years.
Surviving are his wife, Nora P. Nickey of Newberg; two sons, Roger A. Nickey of Dallas, Texas, and Paul Mark Nickey of Minneapolis, Minn., a daughter, Constance P. Smith of Renton, Wash.; and a sister, Dr. Barbara M. Nickey of LeVern, Calif.
