After a 12-month battle with a cancer, Peter Henry Miller entered the gates of Heaven into the loving arms of his Savior at 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at WMHS Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD, at the age of 54.
He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Michael Peter Miller on April 28, 2010.
Mr. Miller was the Administration Supervisor for the NewPage Corporation Luke Mill Wood Department and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, LaVale, MD. Pete received his Masters in Business Administration from Frostburg State University, his Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY, and graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in Star Lake, NY. A Certified Professional Forester and member of the Society of American Foresters, Pete was elected a Fellow in the year 2007, the highest award by the Society. In 1995, he was awarded for Outstanding Service to Forestry by both the Maryland-Delaware Division and the Allegheny Society of American Foresters. Peter was also a certified Master Logger. Pete was past president of the Maryland Forest Association, past chairman of the Maryland-Delaware Master Logger Steering Committee and SFI Implementation Committee. A lover of barbershop music, he was a member of the Chorus of the Potomac and the Flight 93 Memorial Barbershop Chorus. Pete was a Board Member and Referee Coordinator for the Casselman Valley AYSO.
