Verna La June, 92, of Lake Odessa passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her home surrounded by loving family members. June was norn to John Elver and Eunice Marietta (Cairns) Barcroft.

June graduated from Freeport High School in 1939. She married Theron Hecht in 1941 and together they farmed on the family Centennial Farm until his passing in 2008.

June was a member of the Farm Bureau, MSU Extension club, the Brown School Board and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and a 4H leader.

An Important part of her early family life included playing the piano and accordion. When she had a quiet moment, June enjoyed reading.

Survivors include: children Glen T. Hecht, Linda Brauner, Gloria (William Bradford) Hecht, Lorna (Alan) Brecheisen, Phyllis (Millard) Holton and Carol (Bill) Gonyou, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister in law Marge Barcroft along with many nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her husband Theron, parents, and brothers Lawrence, Albert, Carl, and Ron.

Funeral Services were held at the Koops Funeral Chapel.

Memorials in June's name can be given to the Barry County Commission on Aging or Great Lakes Hospice.
