He came to Ohio with his Father, William in 1804. Married Catherine Weaver Nov 19, 1820 in Pickway Co. Ohio.

Daniel and family moved from Ross Co to Allen Co in 1836, being a part of the group of families numbering some 26 people, all of whom located near the present village of Cridersville.

Benjamin & his brother Daniel moved into huts the Indians had left behind in Allen Co.

Daniel & his brother, Benjamin established homes on the west bank of Hog Creek, Shawnee Twp, purchasing the land from a Leatherman. Daniel's home was the present site of Aaron Mowery's farm, the original house of log constuction still standing in remodeled form in the old orchard. After some years Daniel exchanged this farm for the Meffley farm located one mile east.
