Daniel & his brother, Benjamin established homes on the west bank of Hog Creek, Shawnee Twp, purchasing the land from a Leatherman. Daniel's home was the present site of Aaron Mowery's farm, the original house of log constuction still standing in remodeled form in the old orchard. After some years Daniel exchanged this farm for the Meffley farm located one mile east.
