Allen Harvey Rodemeyer, 90, of Osage, Iowa and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, September 22, 2014, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. He was born august 18, 1924, at Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Frederick Dietrich and Bertha Annette Yaw Rodemeyer. He graduated as Valedictorian of the Alexander (IA) Consolidated High School class of 1941. He was united in marriage to Julia Rainwater at Mason City, Iowa. Allen served in the United States Army with thee 102nd Infantry from September 14, 1943, until his honorable discharge on August 8, 1945. He returned to Iowa and earned his BA in Industrial
Arts from Iowa State Teachers College in 1947. Allen was a lifelong learner and teacher, and continued his education at the University of Missouri earning his Masters Degree in Education in 1952, and his EdS from the State College of Iowa in 1971. Early on, Allen taught Industrial Arts at Tipton Consolidated School in Tipton, he also coached football and basketball. In 1965, he took a position as an associate professor of Industrial Technologies at William Penn College, retiring from Penn in 1991. Throughout his career, Allen was involved in many professional organizations including: Iowa Teachers First, Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Delta Kappa, Epsilon Pi Tau International, Iowa Industrial Education Association, American Council on Industrial Arts Teacher Education, to name a few. He was also a member and ordained Elder of the Presbyterian Church and served a number of times on the Session, including one term as Clerk of the Session; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, and donated several plaques he made to William Penn College and also several projects to William Penn's Fine Arts Fair. Allen enjoyed golfing and played until his eyesight failed.

His family includes his wife, Julia Rodemeyer of Osage; daughter, Cynthia(Thomas)Heard of Osage; six grandchildren, Todd(Michelle)Rodemeyer, Dawna Boydston, Kelly Heard, Kristi(Steve)Aschenbrenner, TC (Val) Heard and Tammi Avila(Adam)Heard; sixteen great grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Caleb, Nathan, Dylan, Ally, Zach, Emma, Nolan, Gabe, Jacob, Justin, Jacob, Alexi, Dylan and Claudia; a son Michael Rodemeyer, of Hartsburg, MO.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Boyd, Robert, Cecil Rodemeyer, sister Lois Alexander and Great Grandson Tyler Boydston.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11 am in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Military Rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. at the Bates Funeral Chapel immediately following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation with the family will be held Friday from 9 am until service time at 11 am . The graveside service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 11 am in the Clear Creek Cemetery near Springfield, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.
