HENDERSON, Ben T. age 70, of Mount Holly, NC, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2014 surrounded by family at the Dayton VA Hospice Center.

He was the sixth child of the late William Taft and Pearleatha Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorcas Bell, Ezra and Herbert Henderson. Ben accepted Christ at an early age at Shiloh AME Zion Methodist in Mount Holly, NC.

He was a graduated of Reid High School, Class of 1961, attended Johnson C. Smith University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Ben was a long time resident of Dayton, Ohio and worked at NIBCO for 15 yrs. before relocating back to NC in the mid-80s.

He was the loving father of Shalese Henderson; brother, James W. Henderson; sisters, Mary Henderson, Donnie Waters and Myrtle (Richard) Nixon. He is also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Visitation will be held 1:30 P.M., FRIDAY, September 26, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave., followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 W. Third St. On-line condolences may also be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
