Roland J. Staab, 77, Hays, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Hays Medical Center. He was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Catherine to Albert and Cherubine (Giebler) Staab.

He married Bonnie Nelson on May 3, 1952, in Hays. He was a teacher for area schools and most recent Roosevelt School, Hays.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; six sons, Michael Staab and Ben Staab and wife, Kim, all of Hays, Rodney Staab, Overland Park, Myron Staab, LeCompton, Steve Staab and wife, Denise, Fort Collins, Colo., and Bradley Staab, Denver; a daughter, Jane Jepson, Huntington Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Marion Staab, Catherine, and Irwin Staab, Andale; five sisters, Mary Lang, Hays, Arlene Clyncke and Roseann Seader, both of Louisville, Colo., Irma Staab, Catherine, and Patty Staab, Russell; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Staab.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Tuesday, both at the funeral home.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Staab, Hays, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. July 20, 2002, at the Holiday Inn in Hays. Hosts for the occasion are their children and grandchildren.

Roland and Bonnie (Nelson) Staab were married May 3, 1952, in Hays. Friends and relatives are invited, and they request no gifts.
