Mr. Joseph Orchard Foil, 91, of 2020 St. Andrews Rd., died Monday, July 22, 1996, at his residence.
Graveside funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.
A native of Concord, Mr. Foil was the son of William Archibald and Adelaide Boger Foil. He was educated in the public schools of Concord, Mt. Pleasant Collegiate Institute, Davidson College and graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Textile Manufacturing. He worked as a sales representative for several major manufacturers and in 1940, founded Hickory Throwing Company. Upon selling this company, he former Foil Investment Corporation.
Mr. Foil was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, and the Greensboro Country Club.
In 1938, he married Marie Lumpkin Upson who died in 1973. In 1974, he married Rosa Caldwell Sides who passed away May 7, 1996. He is survived by two nephews and one niece.
