Meredith V. Davis, 93, passed away on June 9, 2014.
She was born in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and was the daughter of Joseph W. and Dasha Allen Viner, and sister of Joseph and Allen Viner. She was the widow of George C. Davis, Jr.
She graduated from Smith College in 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater from 1944-45 with the American Red Cross. She married George Davis in 1949 and moved to Virginia Beach in 1954. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Birdneck Point Garden Club. "We come from the earth, we return to the earth, and in between we garden."
She is survived by her children, George (Teresa) Davis III, Meredith (Justin) Monson, Rhys (Jan Barco) Davis and; Jennifer (Steve) Thalman; grandchildren Dasha, Joel, Maureen, Emily, Tegwen, Aubree, Carter, Erin and Andrew.
A chapel service will be conducted at 4 p.m., June 12, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. The burial will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad are greatly appreciated.
