He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Pauline, his children Jac Joel Cohen and Judi and David Thomas. He loved to spend time with his family and was affectionately called "Poppy" by his grandchildren Jared Evan Thomas and Sarah Turner, Devon Alyse and Gene Thornton, Justin Craig and Anne Cohen, and his great-grandchildren Isabella Thomas and Parker Henry Cohen.
Rabbi Cohen was a respected member of the community and was very influential in all aspects of serving Lee County. Rabbi Cohen was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all.
A memorial service was held on Sunday April 25, 2010 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requested contributions be made to the Rabbi Albert J. Cohen Holocaust Interfaith Memorial Foundation at Temple Beth Shalom or Hope Hospice, Diplomat, in Cape Coral.
