Irene M. Moore, 88, Bismarck, died September 23, 2014, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 27, at Bismarck Baptist Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Allen Finger officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 29, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Irene Mae Schlaht was born May 2, 1926, on a farm near Mercer, ND, the daughter of John and Pauline (Baumiller) Schlaht. She was educated in Turtle Lake. After high school, she and her sister moved to Seattle, where she worked for Boeing as a riveter, assembling war planes. Irene married Glen M. Moore on September 18, 1945, in Marysville, WA. They recently celebrated their 69th anniversary. They returned to Turtle Lake, ND, later that same year. Irene worked at a general store in Turtle Lake, later as a postal clerk in 1961, and assumed the role of postmaster in 1971. She retired from the post office in 1986. Irene enjoyed baking kuchen, sewing, playing the organ in church, teaching Sunday school, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed hosting guests in her home. She and Glen also enjoyed camping and traveling. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Irene was a phenomenal wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She was a great encourager and prayer warrior. For these things and others we will always cherish you. Irene is survived by her husband, Glen, Bismarck; her daughter, Deborah (Lester) Kiemele, Rochester, MN; her sons, Bruce Moore, Molt, MT, and Timothy Moore, Columbus, OH; her grandchildren, Aaron (Belen) Kiemele, Jordan Kiemele, Hannah Kiemele, Rachel Moore, and Sarah Moore; her brothers, Herbert Schlaht and Gary (Barb) Schlaht, both of Bismarck; her sister, Lillian (Clarence) Delzer, Laguna Hills, CA; and her brother-in-law, Arnvil Meadows, Mentor, OH. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Schlaht, Bernice Gunderson, Leona Meadows, and Frances Craig. Memorials may be given to the Crystal Springs Baptist Youth Camp.
