Alberta I. Westover, age 82, passed away Wednesday, afternoon, September 24, 2014, at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Highgate Falls, March 25, 1932 daughter of the late Harold and Doris (Wells) Bard. June 4, 1954, she married Mr. Richard Westover. Mr. Westover died in 1992. Alberta worked as a stock clerk of Giant’s Department Store, at the St. Albans Bean Factory, and the Chip Factory, retiring in 1972. She was a Foster Parent, and cared for Fresh Air children. She was affectionately known as “Birdie” on CB Radio. She enjoyed traveling, gambling at casinos, canning vegetables, spending time with her grandchildren, especially tea parties with her great-granddaughter Madison, and playing cards with her great-grandson Steven.

Alberta is survived by her children, Timothy Westover, Sr., and his companion Kathy Jarvis of St. Albans, and Dianna Begnoche and her husband Marcel of West Palm Beach, FL, her grandchildren, Timothy Westover, Jr., Jessica Martin, and Melissa Baldwin, her great-grandchildren Steven-Sky Martin III, Madison Westover, and Tyler Rushton, her sister Elaine Ungewitter of Highgate, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Richard, a grandson Donald Sullivan, her sisters Geraldine Perotti, Etta Johnson, Barbara Locke, Shirley Barratt, and brother Harold Bard, Jr., along with a special casino friend and neighbor Richard Begnoche.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday September 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M., in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Megan Stowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Westover family lot in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
