Daniel born in Ct about 1761 and when about 17 joined the Revolutionary Army was at West Point at the time of the treason of Benedict Arnold, and saw Major Andre after his capture. He married Miss Martha HALE of Irish birth and after the war settled in Oneida Co NY he came to Chautauqua Co about 1827
Daniel Tennant his son born about 1802 came to the Hartfield area about 1827 and married Miss Hephzabah LEECH, who was born in Ct about 1807, Mrs Tennant died about 1874 he died in 1890.
Another son Austin Tennant April 1799 died in Ashtabula OH at the age of 93 in 1892

Daniel Tennant, from Scotland, about 1748 settled in Connecticut, where his son Daniel was born about 1761 and when eighteen entered the Revolutionary army, was at West Point at the time of the treason of Arnold, saw the American cannon spiked preparatory to a surrender to the British and saw Major Andre, after his capture. He married Miss Hale, of Irish birth, who had two brothers in the American army. After the war he settled at Waterville, Oneida county. Daniel Tennant, his son, born in 1802, came to this county in 1827 and bought wild timber land about three miles northeast of Hartfield. He married Hephzibah M. Leech, who was born in Connecticut in 1807, moved to Buffalo with her parents, whose home was burned by the British in 1812. Mrs. Tennant died in 1874; Mr. Tennant died in 1890.
Daniel Tennant our grandfather son of Caleb was born near Norwich Ct in 1762. Later at the age of 18 he enlisted in Col Canfield's regiment and became one of the Revolutionary Army. He was at West Point at the time of the treason of Arnold and saw the cannons of the Americans spiked to destroy their usefulness preparatory to the surrender of that fort to the British.
After the war he returned to Norwich Ct and some years later met eloped with and married Martha Hale. Grandfather was a shoemaker by trade. Later they settled at Waterville Oneida County NY where they lived and reared a family of four children two sons and two daughters. Orilla who died young and unmarried. Austin born April 4th 1799 Daniel our father born June 17th 1802 and Betsey who married but died leaving no children.
In 1827 his wife having died a short time before grandfather left Waterville NY and went to live with his sons Austin and Daniel who had located near Hartfield Chautauqua county the year before. With them he made his home until he died which was in 1850 at the age of nearly 88
