Clarence W. Allen, a resident of Madison county practically all his life, died suddenly Sunday at his farm home nine miles south of Winterset.

Death resulted from a stroke. He was 59 years of age.

Mr. Allen was born near Peru, Oct. 28, 1891. He was married Aug. 23, 1916, at Winterset to Susie Verlee Sanders. They were the parents of four sons, one of whom, Albert, preceded the father in death.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, C. Harold Allen of Brooklyn, Chester W. Allen of Des Moines, and Joe L. Allen of Winterset; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Lee Allen of Carlisle, Vernon Allen of Texas, and Gail Allen of Ottumwa; and six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Perry of Des Moines, Mrs. Leone Kelly of Missouri, Mrs. Elsie Kirk of Murray, Mrs. Cecil Osborn of Winterset, Mrs. Edith Graham of Washington state, and Mrs. Neita Wilkins of Nebraska.
