Mr. Wood was born March 9, 1914, in Ontario and moved to Portland as a child. A graduate of Lincoln High School and Columbia University, he attended the University of Oregon before transferring to the Northwestern School of Law, where he earned a law degree.
He was the grandson of C. E. S. Wood, a prominent Portland attorney.
Mr. Wood was a veteran of World War II, serving as a lieutenant colonel in the Judge Advocate's Office. He was a member of the Flyfishers Club. He retired in 1977.
Survivors include his wife, Prudence; two daughters, Ellen C. Wood, Camp Sherman, and Diana E. Wood, Washington, D.C.; a brother Bryson Wood of Portland, and a sister, Marian Kolisch of Portland.
A memorial service will be at noon Friday at River View Cemetery chapel, with private interment in River View Cemetery.
