Richard N. Bean, age 24, SGT, U.S. Army was killed in action on July 7, 1944 during World War II on the Island of Saipan. He has been missing in action for the past 70 years.

He was from Manassas, Virginia and is the son of the late Arthur Bean and Rosie Snider Bean.

He is survived by one brother, Everett A. Bean of Winchester, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with military honors will be held 12:30 P.M. Friday October 3, 2014 with one hour visitation prior to the service at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, Virginia followed by interment in Quantico National Cemetery.

"He was a member of the 105th Infantry Battalion of the 27th Infantry Division. His service awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Combat Infantryman Badge."

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Kuentai-USA in loving memory of SGT Richard N. Bean.
