Mildred Leigh Walker Holland Fulks

Mildred Holland Fulks, 101, of Oakland, MS was escorted to her heavenly home on August 8, 2022. She was the daughter of Hampton Wade and Clara Adams Walker, and the last of 88 grandchildren of the William Hughie Adams family from Tallahatchie County, Mississippi.

A celebration of life will be held at Newsom Funeral home in Charleston on August 10th, 2022, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Services will be conducted by Bro. Truman Scarborough. Graveside and Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Bruce Freeman, Buddy, Blair, and Jody Holland, Billy and Ben Selby and Craig Robinson and honorary pallbearers are great grandsons Justin Griffin, Chance Robinson, Walker, Dillon, Blake and Carter Holland, Cody, Drew, and Luke Freeman.

Mildred had a servant's heart and looked for ways to serve others as long as she was physically able. Through her life she served as a registered nurse at the Charleston Hospital, and local clinics, as a home health nurse and was retired from the MS Department of Health in Charleston, MS. She was a Christian and member of Springhill Baptist Church. She loved to study her Bible and pray for her family. She loved to travel, served on mission trips, cooked for others, and volunteered at TGH nursing facility.

Mildred Leigh Walker Holland Fulks was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Alva Ben Holland, and her second husband, Marion Fulks; also, by her parents, twin infant sisters, brothers Hamp Walker (Ruby) and George Walker (Winnie), Son in Law James Freeman and grandson Jeffrey Wade Freeman of Meridian.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Mary Leigh Freeman of Meridian, Alva Ben "Sonny" Holland Jr. (Donna) of Holcomb and Wade Walker Holland (Allison) of Oakland and stepchildren Alice Selby (Morris) of Oakland, and Tom Fulks (Pat) of Gulfport, MS.

Grandchildren include Christy Robinson (Craig) of Pope, Bruce Freeman (Tammy) of Meridian, Buddy Holland of Batesville, Blair Holland (Priscilla) of Rapid River, Michigan, and Jody Holland of Oxford and step grandchildren Cathy Williams, Billy Selby, Jeri Little, and Ben Selby all of Oakland and Bill Fulks of Saucier and Clay Fulks of Gulfport.
She leaves behind 30 great grandchildren and 17 great- great grandchildren and 3 Great -great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A huge thank you to her personal care sitters Mary and Windy Robinson and Hospice nurse Julie Bain.
