Sgt. M. J. Ferrara Killed Over Reich.
Sgt. Michael J. Ferrara Jr. was killed in action over Germany Sept 30, according to word received from he War Department by his parents, Mr. and Mrs Michael Ferrara of 149 Fulton Street.
"We're sure knocking the pants off the Germans" Michael wrote in his last letter home September 18. "I'm coming along fine and I hope to be home by Christmas".
The 28 year old flier, tail gunner on the B-24 based in England, worked for a Manhattan Bank before joining the service in November 1941. He received his basic training at Miami Beach, Florida. and went overseas last June.
His brother, Staff Sgt. Harold, has been missing since a flight over Germany, June 20. Another brother Seaman 2d Class Nicholas , is stationed with the Coast Guard at Manhattan Beach.
Surviving, besides his parents and brothers, is a sister Mary.
