Eduard Julius Lietzau, son of Christian Lietzau and his first wife, Caroline Wilhelmina Knuth, was born 3 Nov 1853 in Pallubin, West Preussen, near the town of Neu Paleschken (now called Nowe Polaszki in Poland). He and his family departed from Hamburg on 18 Apr 1888 on the ship Polaria to New York, arriving 4 May 1888 in the company of his brother, Carl Lietzau and his family. Their destination was Rochester, NY. Edward's wife was Albertine, whose family name is currently unknown (she is indicated as Albertine in all records except for her tombstone which is inscribed "Ernestine.")

Edward LIETZAU died Friday night at his home, No. 28 Kohlman street, aged 54 years. He leaves his wife, Albertina LIETZAU; three sons, Paul, Otto and Carl, and two daughters, Mrs. John [Anna] GARVEY and Mrs. George [Margaret] VROMAN, all of Rochester. He was a member of Schiller Tent, No. 207, K. O. T. M., the West Preussen Benevolent Society, and the Second Concordia Second Benevolent Society.
