Hobart Dominick Betts, Jr. was educated at St. Paul's School, Concord, N. H. and the Choate School, Wallingford, Conn, where he was prepared for Princeton University. He graduated from Princeton with honors in 1926 and while at the university was a member of the Charter Cub, the Varsity Club and the track team. Following his graduation, he was with the General Electric Company and then became assistant to George C. Thomas, general manager of the Thomas & Betts Company, of Elizabeth, manufacturers of electrical hardware, of which his father was one of the founders. Since that time, he had been in the plant at Elizabeth.

He was a member of Town & Country Club, Elizabeth, the Princeton Club of New York and Springdale Golf Club of Princeton. He had recently served on the Elizabeth Relief Commission and had devoted untiring efforts to that cause.

His obituary was published in the Hunterdon County Democrat on January 5, 1933.


He married Elizabeth Vosseller Higgins on December 10, 1929. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judiah Higgins.
