Mrs. C. L. Sibley
On Tuesday, April 6, Mrs. C. L. Sibley passed away at her home at Waldo. The funeral was held on Thursday, April 8, with interment at Sheboygan Falls. The Rev A. G. Wilson of the Congregational church of Plymouth officiated.
Mrs. Sibley, whose maiden name was Martha Monroe, was born at Jericho, Vermont on November 14, 1834. The Monroes came to the county in 1846 and they were among its earliest pioneers. They came at a time when the influx of settlers into the county began in earnest, but when there were still few comparatively here. They, however, made a very valuable addition to the population.
On July 4, 1855, Mrs. Sibley was married to Mr. Sibley, the ceremony being performed at Sheboygan Falls. Except for a year when they resided at Cadott, Wis., this county has been their home. During the greater part of the time they have resided at Onion River and since that place was absorbed by Waldo the latter place has been their home. Mr. Sibley passed away on Jan. 1, 1907. They are survived by Mrs. J. J. Angus, Grand Haven, Mich.; Mrs. Albert Eckhart, Menomonee Falls; Mrs. Albert Oosterhous, Waldo; and one son, C. M. Sibley, Waldo.
Mr. and Mrs. Sibley were among the most intelligent and progressive people of the county, and their influence was constantly exerted for the best.
