Donald "Don" Lee Behnke, 78, of Punta Gorda, FL and Carp Lake, MI went to be with his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy and our Heavenly Father on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. He was born February 26, 1935 in Detroit, MI to Theodore and Edna Behnke. Don received his GED from Cooley High School, Detroit and served his country in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He and Nancy moved to Carp Lake in 1968 and became the owner/operator of the Maples Resort and Antique Shop. As an entrepreneur he had a passion for collecting old treasures for his shop.

Don will be greatly missed by his son, Karl (Debbie) Behnke; daughters, Dawn (Vance) Rhew and Deborah (Bob) Fischer; sister, Barbara (Ken) Steele; grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Kimberly and Kristina and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Don's Life will be Friday, November 8th 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Stone Funeral Home. The Behnke family will receive friends beginning at 12:00pm (noon). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
