Walter J. Maple, 79 of Connersville went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, February 6, 2009 at Lincoln Center East where he had been a resident since September of 2005.

He was born December 3, 1929 in Rushville, Indiana. He was the son of Walter & Myrtie Lee Ard Maple and was a life-long resident of Connersville.

On December 10, 1948, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Joan Lutz of Connersville. Mrs. Maple survives.

Walter was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing pool with his family. For over 48 years, he was a plumber and electrician with Jimmy Marrow's Plumbing and its successors, Huffmeier's Plumbing and Powell's Plumbing (respectively), retiring in 1997.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Joan Maple; two daughters, Brenda Allen of Newark, Ohio and Shauna Johnson of Lake City, Florida; five grandchildren, Lynette (Tom) Greer of Heath, Ohio, Jennifer (Allan) Long of Newark, Ohio, Whitney Johnson, Lake City, Florida, Staci Usher of Newark, Ohio and Clay Usher of Cincinnati, Ohio; six great-grandchildren, Josh, Jake and Lauryn Greer all of Heath, Ohio, Lyndsey and Austin Long of Newark, Ohio and Brayden Usher of Newark, Ohio; a niece, Rhonda Sizemore of Connersville. Indiana and a former son-in-law, Milford (Buster) Johnson of Trenton, Florida.

Special friends include Marlin and Brandi Eisenburg, Mary Schiender, Edia Gray, Jackie and Johnny Lutz, Doug Ellis and Steve Aubaschon.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce E. Usher, his parents, a brother, Kenneth R. Maple, two sisters, Mae Agnes Biddinger and Berniece Larson

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, February,11, 2009 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cain officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Home from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
