Death of A. W. Lamb
Unexpected Demise of a Well-Known Resident of Rome
Avery W. Lamb died at his home, No. 108 Thomas Street, this morning at 9 o'clock, aged 53 years. About two weeks ago he began to fail, but not until a week ago Monday last did he discontinue work, and not until Tuesday of this week did he take to his bed. His ailment was a bilious attack. Last night he grew rapidly worse and continued to do so until he died.
Mr. Lamb was born in Wampsville, Madison County. He learned his trade that of a tinsmith in Verona. About twenty-three years ago he came to Rome and engaged with James Walker, stove dealer and tinner. After the death of Mr. Walker, Mr. Lamb continued to work for Clark & Brockett, who succeeded him and was in the employ of F. W. Clark, successor of Clark & Brockett, at the time of his death. Besides three children, Webber M. and Miss Flora A. and Helen A. Lamb of this city, he leaves two brothers, Mrs. Milton Lamb of Lansingburg and Charles W. Lamb of Albany and a sister, Miss Cornelia A. Lamb of this city.
