COMANCHE — Luther “Luke” Wilson Pearcy, of Comanche, peacefully passed away Monday evening, Aug. 26, 2013, in Duncan. He was 90 years old.

Luke was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Vernon, Texas, to Rollie Roscoe and Jessie Pearcy. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Luke served as a squad leader of the 23rd Infantry 653.

He was a World War II veteran, who saw action at Normandy Beach, France and Rhineland. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars.

Luke and Esther Thatcher were united in marriage April 16, 1990, in Duncan. Luke had lived in Comanche for the last 25 years. He was an active member of the VFW, and also a member of the Red River Riding Club.

Luke retired from Johnson Oil Company, and was also a retired rancher. Luke’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Holidays were a very special time in the Pearcy home. He loved his dogs and horses — He is now riding his beloved horse, Phillip, across Heaven’s green pastures.
