She was the wife of Robert L. Price, to whom she was married for 65 years. They had one daughter (Terrie), two grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He preceded her in death.
She studied Music Appreciation at the University of Louisville, and during the 1930s and 1940s, she played violin for the Louisville Orchestra.
She was a songwriter. One of her most famous hits was "You Belong To Me", which has been performed by many artists through the years, including Jo Stafford, Dean Martin, and the Duprees. It was even featured in the movie "Shrek". She wrote a great many more songs during her career, all written in Louisville. She remained humble and appreciative all of her days. She was such a sweetheart and loved by all who knew her.
A lifelong Republican (her father, Chesley Hunter Searcy, was a National Committeman from Kentucky) she became active in the 1960s and became Third District Governor of the Womens' Republican Clubs of Louisville and Jefferson County and a member of the State Central Committee.
Bridge was a hobby and she became a Life Master in 1986. Mrs. Price was also a member of Louisville Boat Club, Broadcast Music, Inc., The Womens' Republican Club, American Contract Bridge League, Filson Club and Southeast Christian Church.
She was recently inducted into the Atherton High School Hall of Fame and the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. In October of 2009, she received the Governor's Award for a lifetime achievement in the arts.
She passed away in 2010 at age 96.
