Fiscus, Jacob - June 23, 1910 - Jacob Fiscus, a native of, and for many years a resident of Limestone township, but for some time a resident of Rose township, Jefferson county, died at his home a little more than a mile northwest of Brookville, on June 13, at the age of 72 years. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure. He was a son of John Fiscus who settled on and cleared up the old Fiscus farm in Limestone township, latter occupied by his son. The deceased was a strong and rugged man, honest and kindly disposed to all his neighbors. For a great part of his life he was a lumberman. His operation being in many different places. For a short time he was proprietor of the Delmar, or Anderson Hotel in Clarion where he made many friends. He leaves behind him to mourn his loss a wife, Susan Fiscus, and nine children, viz: Mrs. D.L. Reinsel, Mrs. William Shick and A.P. Fiscus, of Limestone township; J.W., of Redbank township; B.J. and Mrs. James Mineweaser of Rose township, Jefferson county; Mrs. William Smith, Falls Creek, and Frank and George, with Marie, an adopted daughter, at home, and about 45 grandchildren. The funeral was on Wednesday, June 15 at the Catholic Cemetery at Crates, Rev. Father Dwyer officiating. The deceased having been a life long member of that church.
