Note: Andrew Bolster, #137094384, born about 1815 according to the 1850 Census indicating 35 years old. He died March 3,18??, age 46 and some months according to his broken tombstone. Thus with probate information, he would have to have been born between March 4, 1814 and March 2, 1815. (Original Find A Grave creator indicated a birthdate of about 1813.)

March 2016 Update:Probate records clearly show Andrew died March 30, 1861. His wife Hannah (aka Johanna and JoAnna) filed petition regarding Andrew's will on April 11, 1861. Apparently they had no living children at the time. Andrew's heirs included his wife, his brother John, his sister Catherine Kaul, and the children of John Bolster, Senior. For some reason this probate was tied up in court until at least 1865. An Otto Bolster received $200 from JoAnna Bolster as part of Andrew's estate.

Naturalization papers at Platteville indicate an Otto Bolster from Bavaria filed in 1859 at age 30, which would mean a birthdate of about 1828 or 1829. There is an Otto Bolster, FAG #28018789, 1828-1911 in Pierz Cemetery in Pepin County, WI. June 2016, Gary Poser who manages the Bolster memorials indicated according to an WPA record, Lorenz Poser was a friend of that Otto Bolster. Posers were from Koettweinsdorf or Oberailsfeld, Bavaria. According to John Bolsters naturalization papers, he was from Oberwilsfield but there is no such spelling, so it is possible John Bolster and Andrew Bolster were from Oberailsfeld, Bavaria which is about a third of a mile east of Koettweinsdorf. Any family connection is yet unknown.

The relationship of this Andrew Bolster ca. 1815-1861 to Andrew Bolster ca. 1856-1896 also buried at Highland Public Cemetery is unknown at this time, but there is no son Andrew listed in the 1861 probate records of Andrew Bolster ca. 1815-1861. It seems the younger Andrew is a nephew and probably the son of John Bolster, Sr.

The elder Andrew emigrated from Bavaria, Germany and was an early settler in Highland. According to 1881 History of Iowa County, he was owning/operating a Boarding House/Tavern ca. 1847. His naturalization papers have been found, and the parcel description of his business on Main Street in Highland. In the 1850 Census his occupation is tavern keeper.

According to Deed Records at the Courthouse, on July 27, 1847 Andrew Bolster purchased for $41, Lot #5. That would be the 5th Lot on the east side of Main Street, south of E. Dodgeville Street. It would seem this would be the location of Andrew's Boarding House/Tavern established in 1847.

On December 11, 1848 Highland Founder Elihu Goodsell sold Lot 68 to Andrew Bolster for $16. On April 18, 1850 Andrew purchased Lot 67 for $16. It is possible these are the 3rd and 4th lots south of E. Dodgeville Street on the west side of Isabell Street. And finally, on March 24, 1850 he purchased a possible 2 acre parcel with a lengthy parcel description. (Check Vol. P, 494)

October 2018 update: According to October 1858 edition of Richland Observer, Richland Center, Wisconsin, "A. Bolster" attended the Democratic Senatorial Convention held October 5, 1858 at Highland, Wisconsin.
