Blanche Esther Abele, 91, formerly of 949 Louise Ave., died Saturday at the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, after a long illness. Mrs. Abele was a bindery worker for 20 years at Intell Printing. She also worked for Armstrong World Industries during World War II. She was a former member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. A member of St. John Neumann Travel Club, she enjoyed traveling, crocheting, crafts and art, particularly oil paintings of the seashore, because she loved the ocean. She also was knowledgeable about flowers and birds. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Marris H. and Ruth Jane Haines Henry. Her husband, John I. Abele, died in 1987. Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Ruth, wife of Rodney Hess of Bethel Island, Calif., Jean Marie, wife of Rafel Cons of Pacifica, Calif., and Patricia, wife of Roy Brandon of Lancaster; a son, John I. Jr., husband of Marie Abele of Downingtown; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Roy, husband of Clara Henry of Lancaster; and a sister, Stella May, wife of Richard Weigand of Leola.
