Arthur C. Smith, 79, of 526 Riverview Drive, New Kensington, formerly of Tarentum, died unexpectedly in his residence this morning (July 30, 1974).
He was born in Tarentum on Nov 11, 1894, to William F. and Mary Humes Smith. He had lived most of his life in the borough.
Mr. Smith retired in 1955 after 34 years employment as a mail carrier in Tarentum.
He moved to New Kensington upon the death of his wife, Edith Hanna Smith in December 1971 and took up residence with his only survivor, a sister, Mrs. Martha Finley.
Mr. Smith was a member of Highview United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum. He also held 50-year memberships in Tarentum Odd Fellows and Highland Hose Co.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday and Thursday in Walters Funeral Home, 543 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, where service will be held Friday at 11 am by his pastor, the Rev. Robert E. Boone. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge.
