Deceased Name: Thomas E. Miller
Thomas Eugene Miller, of Independence, Mo., ascended into heaven, Thursday, April 12, 2007, sleeping peacefully in his home, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Tom was born February 7, 1930, in Kansas City, Mo., to proud parents, Floyd and Madeline Miller. He was preceded in death by both parents, and three brothers, Ralph, Carl and Howard.
He leaves behind his loving wife and life partner, Nancy; a son, Jerry Dale, two daughters, Terry Schuenemann and Sharon Gaston and son-in-law, Chuck Gaston; seven grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and RoseMary White, who were always considered his own. He served in the Korean War and was a machinist at Fairbanks Machine shop, retiring after 32 years. He loved his family to an overwhelming degree, always thinking of everyone else before himself. It was nothing for him to drop everything and run to those who needed him. He loved traveling, fishing, camping and sharing every moment with his wife, whom he referred to as his Sugar. He created beautiful treasures out of wood, and fixed about anything that could be fixed. Tom was a leader and a teacher to all his friends and family. Tom had many friends that were thought of as family and included in all family gatherings, which were many.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Mount Washington Cemetery. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16. In lieu of flowers, the donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice.
