Obituary - Death of Mrs. Van Valkenburg.
Mrs. Susan A Van Valkenburg died at the home of he sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia Kennedy, on Main street, July 16th, after a long illness. She had been unable to walk since February and spent most of the time in a chair, being cared for by Mrs. Kennedy. She was the widow of Edward Van Valkenburg who died in Michigan ten years ago and she was 72 years old. Her father was Joseph S. Kennedy and she was born in Michigan where most of her life was spent, coming here after the death of her husband, and making her home with her brother the late Birdsall Kennedy. She is survived by one brother, Joseph Kennedy of West Sparta. Funeral services were held at the house on Saturday, Rev. Fred J. Hessler, pastor of the Free Methodist church Byersville, officiating, and she was buried inthe South Sparta church yard.
