He was born Dec. 5, 1960 in Goshen to Harold and Lucille (Graber) Swartzendruber.
Steve is survived by his mother, Lucille Swartzendruber of Goshen; a sister, Janet Reid of Charlottesville, Va.; and a brother, James (Tina) Swartzendruber of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, David Swartzendruber.
A 1978 graduate of Goshen High School, Steve earned his bachelor’s degree at Goshen College in 1982 and his master’s degree from Indiana University, Indianapolis. Steve worked as a regional manager for Wendy’s for seven years and then as a hospital administrator in Albion, Michigan and Defiance, Ohio.
A tennis player, Steve played competitively at both Goshen High School and Goshen College. He played trumpet in the Goshen High School marching band and in the Goshen Collelge Jazz Band.
