Ernest C. "Ernie" Catron, Jr., 61, slipped away from this life to a better one Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at his home in Saltville. Ernie was born February 25, 1945 in Canton, Ohio. Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Catron, Sr.; and sister, June Gale Smith. He graduated from Rich Valley High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years aboard the ship USS Eastwind. Survivors include children, Crystal Catron Holston and husband, George Anthony Holston, Bryan Keith Catron, Iris Lynn Catron; his mother, Dorothy S. Catron of Salem, Va.; two sisters, Vicki Freeman and husband, Meade Freeman of Salem, Va., Theresa Kemp of Saltville, Va.; one brother, Landon Catron and Maria Catron of Salem, Va.; grandchildren, Shannon Ray Holston, Tony Matthew Holston, Virginia Cheyenne Holston, Amber Marie Catron, Danielle Ann Catron, Jacob Isiah Kyle Catron; uncle, David Catron and wife, Juanita of Saltville, Va.; aunt, Eunice Bowers of Saltville, Va.; cousin, Roger Lee Catron of Florida; special friends, Tommie Mae Bruce, Jake Osborne, Willis Crusenberry, Sherry Smith. Memorial services for Mr. Catron will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Joannou officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with the Saltville V.F.W. Post 7328 conducting Military rites. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. D.R. Henderson Funeral Home of Saltville, Va. is serving the Catron family.
