Robert P. Leriche, 69, of Ottumwa Route 6 died at 5:22 [sic] p.m. Dec. 22, 1986, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born March 17, 1917, in Ottumwa to William and Mary Hickman Leriche. A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he was a retired partner of Leriche and Crowell Painting Contractors. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Walter B. Shafer Post 775, OB Nelson Post 3 of the American Legion, and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 347. He was a veteran of World War II. He married Vontella “Tillie” Abernathy May 28, 1946, in Kansas City, Kan.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Monty Sperry of Oloha, Ore.; and five grandchildren.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Neal [sic] Guy of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars Walter B. Shafer 775 will be in charge of military services at the grave.

Visitation will be until 6 p.m. today, and after 4 p.m. Christmas Day. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Thursday.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society in care of Florence DeBuhr, 3 Carter Court Lane, Ottumwa.
