She was predeceased by her parents; brother Allen Anderson, of El Paso Texas; sister Marilyn Turmelle Garside, of Augusta; and infant son, Sean E. Leary.
Janice was educated in Dover Foxcroft and Boston University, and married on December 28, 1957. A loving wife of 57 years, she leaves behind her husband, Edward E. Leary, of Palermo; and three sons, Shannon M. Leary, of Oakland, Edward S. Leary, of Scarborough, and Frank P. Leary, of Palermo. Janice was also blessed with four grandchildren, Erin and Kevin Leary, both of Manchester, (son and daughter of Shannon) and Paige and Kelby Leary, of Palermo, (daughters of Frank and Susan); and one great-granddaughter, Madilyn Kennedy, (daughter of Erin).
Janice retired from Maine State Government as an Administrative Assistant in several state departments and was very proud of her work.
She was a talented basketmaker and enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling, she was an active member of The Palermo Extension and especially enjoyed time with family and friends. Her bright smile, positive outlook and sense of humor were a constant reminder of how kind and loving a person she was.
A very sincere and heartfelt thank-you to all the staff at the Glenridge Alzheimer Care Facility who gave Janice genuine, loving and professional care every day.
A graveside ceremony will be conducted at the Smith Cemetery in Palermo. (Kennebec Journal 10/15/2014)
