JACQUELINE J. BERRY
Jacqueline J. Berry, 74, who taught at Mayville High School or many years, died on Dec. 12, 204, at Angels Grace Hospice Gardens in Oconomowoc.
Born on June 30, 1930, in Horicon, to Walter (Pete) and Lillian Lentz Schaefer, Ms. Berry graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1948 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1953.
On July 18, 1954, she married Donald W. Berry in Fond du Lac.
After teaching at high schools in Verona and Prairie du Sac, Wis., she lived overseas in Bogota, Colombia, and Tripoli, Libya, where her husband worked as a petroleum Geologist.
Ms. Berry taught English and coached forensics at Mayville High School from 1969 until her retirement in 1996. She led a number of forensics teams to Scenic Moraine and Flyway Conference championships and helped many students reach state level competition.
She also served as advisor to the school's AFS Club. After retirement, Ms. Berry moved to Shorewood, where she enjoyed participating in local book clubs, dining out and traveling.
Surviving are one brother, Ronald Schaefer of Fond du Lac; one son, Bryan (Deb) Berry of Windsor, Conn.; two daughters, Jane (Tim) O'Brien of Oconomowoc and Susan (Ron) Wofford of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Mark.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Koepsell Funeral Home, 301 N. Walnut St., Mayville, with the Rev. Ernest O. Geigis officiating.
Visitation: Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 204, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Mayville High School Forensics Program.
